Jakarta Governor, Anies Baswedan conducts a groundbreaking on City garbage processing facility construction or known as Sunter Intermediate Treatment Facility (ITF), North Jakarta.
Budget for Sunter ITF construction reaches 250 million US dollar or equivalent to 3.6 trillion. This construction is done by PT. Jakarta Propertindo (Jakpro) with cooperation with Finland company, Fortum.

"This is a very historic moment. It is not only change in technology, but also in our mindset," he expressed at Sunter ITF Groundbreaking location, North Jakarta, Thursday (12/20).
He explained, Jakarta can produce waste around 7,000-8,000 tons per day and almost all of it is transported to Bantargebang TPST, Bekasi, West Java.
"It's the time to solve waste problem in systemic and strategic way. ITF construction is the most appropriate step to ensure waste in Jakarta to be completely managed," he said.
According to him, Sunter ITF can process 2,200 tons of waste a day by using truly environmentally friendly technology. It is equipped with turbine that can convert heat into electricity up to 35 megawatts.
"We are grateful since we can apply the highest standardized technology. I want this place is not only used to process waste, but also becomes educational facility for residents," he expressed.
According to plan, Sunter ITF construction is targeted to complete within three years. But his side hopes PT. Jakpro and Fortum can complete its construction faster.
Meanwhile, PT. Jakarta Propertindo President Director, Dwi Wahyu Daryoto stated, Sunter ITF Construction is a task assigned by Jakarta Government which is mentioned at Gubernatorial Decree (Pergub) No. 33/2018.
"We have all permissions needed for Sunter ITF construction. It makes it possible to start the construction of Sunter ITF which is really needed by Jakarta as the waste processing site," he conveyed.
He added, Sunter ITF will apply Eco-friendly technology that has been widely used in European and Asian countries.
"We ensure that the technology we use is in accordance with the Europe highest standard, European Union Directive," he asserted.
